MORE ABOUT BAMBOO CHARCOAL

How long has bamboo charcoal been around?

Bamboo charcoal is one of the newest, most revolutionary material that is rising in popularity rapidly. Both bamboo and charcoal have been around for centuries. In fact, around Asia, it is not uncommon to use bamboo charcoal as medicine, filter system and fuel for cooking. This material is widespread around Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan.

It is only recently, that the West has recognized its uses and benefits, and has started to incorporate the material into other tangible devices.

What is bamboo charcoal composed of?

Just like its name, bamboo charcoal is a combination of both bamboo and charcoal. There are countless types of bamboo, and the production of bamboo charcoal requires a particular kind, Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens). The production starts with heating the bamboo at a temperature of 800-1200 degrees celsius. The charcoal will then be processed and mixed and combined with fabrics as its involvement in the expansion specialization of nanotechnology.

The term nanotechnology is described as the ā€œunderstanding, manipulation, and control of matter at the length mentioned above, thus, the physical, chemical, and biological properties of materials (individual atoms, molecules, and bulk matter) can be engineered, synthesized, or altered to develop the next generation of improved materials, devices, structures, and systemsā€. This indicates that the extent of durability, softness, breathability and water resistance can be engineered and controlled to the most optimum or preferred level.

What are the benefits of bamboo charcoal?

  • Air purifier & Deodorizing properties- Bamboo charcoal allows for the absorption of unpleasant odor, harmful gases, and unwanted moisture.

  • Gentle on sensitive skin - The fabric does not aid the presence of bacterial metabolism, which diminishes the probability of allergic skin reaction compared to other fibers that is sterilized with antimicrobial agents.

  • First class durability & Washing - Bamboo charcoal possesses a quick-drying property. Additionally, due to the attribute of the implantation of bamboo charcoal nanoparticles in the fabric rather than simply coating the fabric with such particles, it induces the durability of the fabric to enable numerous washings with no detrimental effect to the charcoal qualities.

  • Moisture Control - The thread used comprises of countless micro-gaps and micro-holes hence it is able to absorb moisture and offer ventilation in a more superior manner. Consequently, it will keep you cool and dry on hot days.

  • Thermal Control - The absorptive property of bamboo charcoal allows it to insulate heat during cold weather and keeps you cool on hot nights.

  • Stimulates health benefits - Bamboo charcoal material comprises of potassium, calcium and other favorable minerals. Additionally, the materialā€™s superior ability to propel negative ions results in the materialā€™s anion concentration composition equivalence of the outskirts. Hence, endorsing healthier surface.

How is bamboo charcoal environmentally friendly?

With the increasing concern of the worldā€™s depletion of natural resources, we are in need of more recurring and sustainable resources to replace our invaluable earthā€™s treasures. One of these treasures include the trees that has been providing life to us and other living creatures on earth. Compared to the conventional wood, bamboo takes 5 years to be harnessed. This allows for the expeditious operation, as compared to wood, which takes up to 50 years for it to be fully harvested.

On top of that, bamboo charcoalā€™s air purifying and deodorizing properties derives an anti pollution environment compared to normal charcoal. It is able to filter unwanted odor and toxins, leaving a purified air.

Moreover, when assessing charcoal as itself, it is not necessarily eco. Nevertheless, it possesses a natural detoxifying feature. The process of creating charcoal requires the process of burning wood material, which would emit CO2. However, the more eco friendly approach is to use bamboo instead of wood. Bamboo is a sustainable option to a greater extent as it grows in a timelier manner. It also eliminates synthetic pesticides footprint, fertilizer, and other detrimental substances.

How are we incorporating bamboo charcoal to our pillows?

We are proud to present that all of our memory foam pillows will incorporate bamboo charcoal as one of its most principal ingredients. Bamboo charcoal will encompass the main ingredient of our pillows. This will allow our customers to be endowed with the beneficial components, as well as the peace of mind that comes from knowing that we are on our way to conserving our natural resources.
